ObjectDock on Windows 7 [Quick Demo ]
The bar at the bottom, objectdock, is available as a free download from the creator’s website, Stardock.com. It is not the dock that comes pre-loaded on Dell computers, but one commenter noted that Stardock makes the Dell Dock as well. Some people were asking about it and I just think it’s a really neat application, so here’s a little vid to show some of its potential. I don’t work for them, but I have paid for their software before. Even the free versions of objectdock & Fences are incredibly useful, so yea just go check ‘em out if you are interested. I may post another video of the customization menus and such later on, but the best way to see what all it can do is to check it out for yourself! This is on my main desktop computer, displayed on a 46″ LCD, so it just goes to show the versatility of the software’s functionality. On my laptop, I can scrunch all the icons together and make the desktop even more of an invisible filing cabinet, and on the big screen i can have nice large icons that are much easier to select, while navigating with an air mouse or dinovo Mini from the couch.

AVCHD is Sony’s format right? Because I have a Sony Camcorder, I can’t really edit its videos except with its crappy software it came with.
Maybe that Sony Vegas 9 program will edit them properly, but it’s like $500 if you aren’t a pirate.
As for screen recordings, I record with camtasia, edit in premiere/ae in lagarith lossless (AVI), then convert to H264 MP4 using mediacoder or camtasia itself once i’m done editing. Camtasia’s recorder is slow with Aero’s animations, though…
Sadly, I’m having trouble finding the best, most compatible video editor too.
What’s proven much more elusive to me is a good quality, free (or very low cost) AVCHD editing application. Even a reasonable freeware converter would be great, but from what I have been able to find, there is no appreciable benefit to recording in AVCHD if you cannot easily edit the files. Any advice you may have in that regard would be most welcome.
Ahhh ok, thanks
I recorded this with the “free trial” of ZD Soft Screen Recorder… First time to use this software, and I don’t recall the specific limitations of it’s “free trial.” I do like the fact that it doesn’t add a watermark to the recording, nor does it seem to limit the quality of the recording for the free version, at least as far as I can tell.
What screen recorder do you use? It actually smoothly handles the Aero wallpaper and window fades.
Camtasia 6 skips a lot of frames on those for me.
