The question is actually how far will you usually be from the screen while watching this TV? There are multiple charts around that are different, but if you closely look at this one, it shows that at a viewing distance of roughly 7 to 10 feet, you can see the improved resolution of a 1080 TV.http://www.engadgethd.com/2006/12/09/108…
If you were to sit further away, some of the fine detail your TV offers would start to disappear, etc.
If you can afford it, go with the larger set.
