Cannot get cable box from the provider. The cable is from Armed Forces Network, over a coax, and of poor quality. I want to buy an AV receiver that will upconvert both the PS3 and Cable input. i want surround sound from the PS3 and a better picture through the cable input to the receiver using HDMI out.

OTA channels?

i have a 46 inch HDTV, it has a few component jacks in the back. i have my ps3 and xbox 360 hooked into those. im using optical cable to run the audio from my ps3 to play through my surround sound. now on my 360, i had it hooked up onto the front of my receiver, but the jack stopped working a few days ago so i decided to just hook up the component cables. now how would i go about getting my 360 to play thru the surround sound speakers? would s-video cables do the job because im not sure the 360 has a s-video jack on the actual system itself.

I have a Onkyo 674 HD upconverting AV receiver with 2 HDMI inputs & 1 output ; a Samsung R135 DVD upconverting recorder with 1 HDMI out ; a Sony VCR (only composite connections) ; a Samsung 46 Inch LCD HDTV with 2 HDMI in ; a Dish digital reciever (no HD for now).
Please suggest the cables needed (HDMI, Component, etc.) and the best way to connect using Onkyo as the network and maximising performance for video and audio.
