signal to receive the free HD signals coming thru on the higher channels. Can someone tell me how to hook up my DVD to record without losing the free signals? I do not currently subscribe to the HD thru my cable company. Thanks.

I currently have a 46 inch 1080p Samsung HDTV.I use an old school (rabbit ear) antenna for it.I do not want cable or satellite but I want a device that will let me record tv without the need for cable or satellite.Would that be a tv recorder or dvd recorder? or are they one in the same ? Also,if the program I’m recording has abit of static or interference (since I’m using rabbit ears) will that show up when its recorded?
